Background

Excavation of 250,000 m3 of engineering clay at Beddington Lane, haulage to Horton Land Fill site in West Sussex and placement as final capping.

The Works

This contract will be undertaken over two seasons, 2010 and 2011 involving and using two 35 tonne excavators loading 40 tipper trucks with two dozers and a self propelled compactor along with our site management staff placing the material to rigid and exacting specifications.

The contract also involves moving a further 150,000m3 of soils and clays with dump trucks on site at Hotrton to prepare the last waste cells; this part of the contract also includes the extensions to the existing drainage systems and working with in the existing methane gas extraction wells and associated pipe work infrastructure. Material arising from the new cells is being used as final restoration soils to complete the restoration of the land fill site.
